Selecting and downloading the packageWe offer different packages of Sophos Endpoint Security for Windows, which have different purposes.The location of your computer is important. If your computer is within the campus network, you should download the package including.If your computer is regularly off-campus, you will need to download the version without.You may also download the packages including the Client Firewall of Sophos. Once a year (mostly end of February) the access will be updated.
This means you will have to access the packages again using the methods above if your installation of Sophos Endpoint Security isn't able to update anymore.For students and employees with Hermes-Mail-Konto for extern:Sophos VersionohneSophos Endpoint Security Custom ( recommended)Sophos Endpoint Security + Client Firewall Custom ( )For this version please enter your stu account data or your su account data for installing and being able to receive further updates. Those can be enabled by rightclicking on the symbol at the task bar and selecting 'Konfiguration' and then 'Updates'. Please enter your data and confirm with 'OK'.Please rightclick on in the task bar and choose 'Jetzt updaten' and start the updateing process. Your Sophos will now be provided automatically with Updates until your account data is not valid anymore.For employees without a Hermes mail account:Sophos VersionwithwithoutSophos Endpoint Security ( recommended)Sophos Endpoint Security + Client Firewall ( )Installation of Sophos Endpoint Security (SES). Configuration of Sophos Endpoint Security Settings of the antivirus componentsYou can access the main menu of SES by double clicking the Sophos Symbol ( ) in your system tray. You will find a menu item 'Antivirus and HIPS configuration', where you can configure the antivirus components.

A link to the documentation is provided at the end of this article.Manual UpdateYou are also able to manually update the Sophos Anti-Virus at any given time. Just right click the icon in your system tray ( ) and select 'Update now'.Configuration of the Sophos Client FirewallIf you have downloaded the package with Sophos Client Firewall (SCF), a firewall will be installed besides the Anti-Virus. The firewall needs to be configured manually before using.Please click on 'Configure firewall'. The following settings are available until Windows 7 only.
Windows 8 and higher don't support the interactive mode for the firewall.If you click on 'Configure' you may change the mode of the client firewall. After installation the interactive mode is recommended. In this mode you will be asked if a unknown program is trying to use the network connection.

After some time it is useful to leave the interactive mode since most of the programs which need access to the network will have the required rules set in the firewall.
