I have a similar question but cannot find the thread you mention. I also cannot create a new thread.Anyway, I have 1.4 Beta on my machine that I installed with Tiger. I now have Leopard and did not upgrade my boot camp. I now need to upgrade my boot camp to the 2.1 but am having problems. Can I upgrade from 1.4 to 2.1 without having to completely re-install Windows? I ask because I have a few programs on here that I don't want to re-install, plus go through all the Service pack updates again. Is this possible?? Pop your Leopard DVD in and if it is 10.5.4 it could have 2.0 or even 2.1 BootCamp drivers.I recall though a lot of people had trouble a year ago, so, as always with computers, backup.WinClone 2.x can backup Windows, and there are a number of programs that can backup your OS X partition(s) from Disk Utility to CCC to SuperDuper and more. You can't create thread inside a Discussion thread, you have to go to top of a given sub-forum, and I think it is a poor design that would be nice to improve on.

You are updating the BootCamp / Apple drivers and services.Like any OS update/patch, plan for the worst, and hope for the best. And no, you aren't looking at a full reinstall. However, it is my opinion, that Leopard is more significant than some thought; that the partition tables have changed which now allows for resizing and creating partitions, does have some risks. Some had minor glitches: Option key didn't show Windows; or it didn't show OS X (never both!), or one system didn't show in Startup Disk.I'm big fan of 'backup and reformat your drives with the new OS version of Apple utility' and don't do OS X update in place or even Archive Install. If you have Leopard working fine, you're over that hurdle. Can't hurt to take a couple hours most to use WinClone so if needed, you can restore Windows back to how it was. I would, having just spent 2-3 days on Vista. Took a full day to upgrade Vista to SP1 plus all patches and updates, along with all the applications, and then a day of backup sets etc.BootCamp. Assistant to partition.

A control panel in Windows. A set of features.

A set of services and drivers to support motherboard chipset and such.Windows doesn't run inside or under BootCamp, though installing using BootCamp Assistant does add MBR support to allow XP to be installed - and that is likely the only place that matters. Some people have had trouble upgrading BootCamp 2.0 to 2.1. Can say the same about most every OS X update, even Safari 3.2 (see MacFixit) has caused trouble for some, as can any security update, or 10.5.5 or any other update or upgrade or software (like iTunes 8).What it is suppose to do and what can happen, and what preparations to take, and how well you keep and maintain your system and backups, is up to you. But I also think there was less planning and QA.BootCamp included with 10.5.4 DVDs.
