These are the stem files used during the creation of The Beatles: Rock Band. They can be opened in (freeware). You'll then be able to isolate or mute particular parts of The Beatles' recordings, eg vocals, guitar, bass, drums, edit them, rearrange them or sample them. So much fun!You'll also be able to hear bits of conversations, asides, mistakes and much more that can't be heard on the album mixes.The three files Huge One parts 1, 2 and 3 are the medley.
If you can't unpack.rar files, download (OS X) or (both free). There's also a readme.txt file, which reads: 'Rename any files with.ogg to.mogg'One other thing: because these are Rock Band files they often have count-ins drafted in from other studio takes, or fade-outs, so they're not always fully authentic. Hearing it in isolation is amazing. I never knew he played bass chords in it either.I think the problem is with audacity and not with the download, cause I know that my entire file is there but only 2 45 of it open.

Thank you so much! Holly G saidI must be the last person to find out about Beatles Rock Band multi-tracks. I've downloaded all of them from, except I can't get access to Side 2 (Huge One, parts 1-3). Can someone send me a usable link or email me the mogg file directly? I'd be forever grateful.I had the same problem,and those 3 files are still listed as broken/undownloadable.
Luckily I found an alternative source:Seven 500MB RAR files, and it's a slow, painful and tricky download, but hey, it workedEDIT:Actually, I just took a look, and the full medley can be extracted from just part 5, so there's no need to get the others. Just as well. Those downloads don't resume if the connection breaks (which happened to me about once every 5 attempts), and they make you wait an hour between attempts. Expect one download to take nearly 3 hours.

Luckily, the Huge Medley isn't one of those.It's an interesting collection. I've not played the game, and what I can't fathom is, why are the files multi-track at all? I found this:' To turn classic Beatles songs into the stages of a video game, each song needed to be separated into its several components, so that if the person playing the guitar misses a note, the guitar sound can drop out while the music made by the other instruments is unaffected.' But is that the only reason why they went to so much trouble?

They're called stem files, and can be combined to play the full version of a song. They're not the proper multitracks in many cases, but 2009 isolations of many of the instruments (some of the songs were recorded on two-track, and even the later songs had more than one instrument on the same track, so they all had to be isolated for the game).So the 'instrument-drop-out' thing must be a noticeable and important feature of the game.
I never played a Rock Band game.if I'm figuring this right, the audible mix would be (e.g.) sans guitar if the plastic guitar player either wasn't playing or was hitting the wrong notes (I also heard of a 'bum note sound' feature which makes mistakes more obvious by playing horrendous samples), and then when the part was being played right, the recorded guitar sound would come back into the mix. All of which would help make the player feel like they were really playing a guitar, if they can manage to ignore the fact that it doesn't have any strings.I was cynically expecting the tracks to be doctored to stop them from being too well-isolated, as a deterrent to mixers and mashers, but on listening to a few I get the feeling that they're simply an honest attempt at creating reasonably separate instrument tracks from what they had, which as you say often wasn't all that separate. I know they combined some separates just to get coherent parts for people to play.There's usually 10 tracks per song, but mostly they look like identical pairs, which seems wasteful of them. Is this some kind of stereo thing?
I've been looking around for info on.mogg file headers,but there doesn't seem to be any stereo pan settings in there. Is the idea to just pan each pair hard left and hard right? That would shave a few decibels off Audacity's tendency to play the untouched mixes above the clipping level.it takes quite a while to cut all the volumes and/or do the panning, unless there's a 'link 2 adjacent tracks as stereo pair' button somewhere in Audacity.
The original audio tracks seem to be at the right levels for a good mix when all tracks are played back at the same volume, so I'd be surprised if they relied on song-specific pan data to position the instruments in the stereo field.side note: Curiously, Windows Media Player is able to play the mogg files here, as mono mixdowns at a slower speed than the right one, except in the case of 'WMGGW,' which for some reason plays at the correct speed and in stereo Possibly it only works at all because I've got a couple of 3rd-party codec packs installed here.
